Making your own canvas

I saw this project on pinterest but needed some visual aid but when i went to find the post i couldn't find it to give credit where credit is do...so if you see this thanks so much...

How fun would it be to make your own canvas? Well now it is! The total cost for this project is around $6.00 and total time it took was about 3 hours(but i have a 6 year old and 3 year old who are always needing momma time so it took me awhile)

you will need:
sheet of tissue paper (i used gift wrapping tissue paper)
cardstock paper
scotch tape
scissors
hot iron (setting at 5 with no steam)
digital photo
printer
stretched canvas already mounted
mod podge
black sponge brush

(not pictured is the scotch tape everything else is)

1. you will need to lay your cardstock paper on top of the tissue paper...
2. i cut about an inch around the cardstock on the tissue to give me room to tape the tisse down..but that will be a later step
3. You need to pre heat your iron to 5(which on mine that is the cotten/lien but make sure the steam is off...once it is heated lay the tissue paper on a towel and run the iron on the tissue paper just like you would a shirt...i couldn't show this step as my hands where busy and no one else was around..
4. once its ironed really good where all the wrinkles are NOT visuable...place the cardstock paper on top of the tissue just like you cut it...tape all the edges to the paper making sure that where your going to print there is no tape(or there will be missing ink on the tissue where it was)...i started with the edges first, then made sure and taped that sucker down...cause from the first experience if you didn't then you had a really bad paper jam in the printer...

5. this is how it should look when your done..(i know white on white doesn't help but i didn't have any different color cardstock)

6. find the image you want on your computer (this one is my all time fav)

7. stick your tissue paper that is taped to the cardstock and print your picture (make sure you put the tissue paper side to print, this was another lesson learned)

 8. this is what your paper should look like when you get through printing...i would wait at least 30 minutes to make sure the ink is fully dried before doing anything else. if you notice there is a white border around the picture...

9. I cut the border off mine..you can keep yours if you want but its still not going to hide anything. when you cut it this should get the tape off you previously put on...also you will no longer need the card stock paper

10. put dots of mod podge over the canvas (make sure and put alittle BIT) to much will make it to wet and when you go to adjust your picture you will tear it and ruin it (another lesson learned) so just alittle bit

11. using the black sponge brush, brush the podge evenly on the canvas if it dries before you put the picture don't worry...

12. on this step, again it was me and i couldn't take pictures while doing it. When placing the tissue paper on the canvas make sure it is lined up pretty well before placing on the glue(don't worry if you didn't put that much podge on the canvas you can lift the tissue paper off and realign). once its right where you need it, you need to get wrinkles out..now if its not sticking at this point slowly lift up the paper and add podge as you go...the picture above is what it will look like finished...

there are two ways you can pretty up the edges to make it pretty or you can leave it with the staples showing totally up to you...i personally don't like for the staples to show...i had some scrap paper left over from a previous project and just added them to the edges...next time i will probably just paint the edges...

Now here is the finally canvas all done...we just bought a bigger house and my bathroom was just screaming for personality so i just added it there...makes my heart warm up everytime..hope you've enjoyed this project and made it easy for you to understand...happy canvas making and from experience it gets addiciting...
